Sportsmen’s Association of Greensburg
Greensburg Sportsman Rd, Greensburg PA 15601
Team practice and scoring are on Sundays starting at 11:00 AM.
Time slots will be assigned to each athlete once registration has been completed. It usually takes about an hour for each athlete to shoot two rounds.
Missed scoring days and/or time slot changes, must have coach approval in ADVANCE and must be made-up with the same scoring week. Also note: Team ammunition will ONLY be distributed on Sundays. You will be responsible for supplying your own ammo and clay fees outside of Sunday shoots.
Additional practices are available on Wednesday evenings starting around 5:30 pm
We also have compiled a list of other local ranges that are available for public practice. See coach for more information.
Fall Season usually starts in September.
Spring Season usually starts in March.
Each season consists of 2 practices, 1 reserve week, and 5 weeks of scored shooting. (8 total weeks)
Reserve week scores are recorded and only used in the event of a team cancellation due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances during one of the regular 5 weeks of competition.
All athletes are also encouraged to attend the PA State Tournament in Elysburg, PA held each year in early June. Individual and team awards are presented. National Championships in Mason, Michigan are held in mid-July and are by invitation only based on season averages. (neither of these are mandatory but highly recommended)
Shotgun/Shotgun Case: A clean, well maintained working 12 or 20 gauge with a full or modified choke for trap; and/or a cylinder or skeet choke for skeet.
Ammunition: The Boosters will use sponsorship funds (if available) to provide ammo for all athletes after their seasonal team fee is paid in full. Two (2) boxes per discipline will be distributed each week during check-in.
PLEASE NOTE: Team ammunition will only be distributed on SUNDAYS! Also note, there will be NO SWITCHING ammo mid-season! Athletes will only be provided with the gauge of ammo that is chosen during registration, as that is what will be budgeted and purchased for the team. Shooters that decide to change guns will then be responsible for supplying their own ammo for the remainder of the season. If sponsorship funds are not available, this plan may change from season to season. A parent letter will be distributed with more details!
All student athletes must use factory ammunition. Reloaded cartridges, tracers, copper & nickel coated shots are not permitted. Maximum velocity is 1300 fps (feet per second).
Team Uniform: Team shooting vest must be worn at all practices/competitions!
Ear Protection: Foam plugs are the cheapest and work very well. Ear muffs or headphone style can sometimes get in the way, but work extremely well to protect your hearing. Hearing protection is required, but the exact type is optional.
Eye Protection: Shell casings fly during shooting sports. Safety Glasses that wrap around for full coverage are mandatory. Must be shatter resistant.
Proper Footwear: No open-toe shoes, sandals, crocs or flip flops!
Shell Catcher: Must be attached if using a semi.
Parent/Guardian: Athletes under the age of 17 MUST have a parent/guardian in attendance during the entire practice/competition.
The 2025 Spring Season Team Fee is $120.00 per discipline.
This covers all target fees for 8 weeks ($80 - 2 practices, 1 reserve week, and 5 scoring weeks) plus 16 boxes of ammo ($40 - that's just $2.50 per box)!
NOTE: Our team fee is subject to change each season based on the number of athletes that register to participate and the amount of sponsorship funds that are available.
The USA High School Clay Target League fee for the 2025 Spring Season is $40.00 per discipline.
NOTE: This fee is paid online directly to the league.
This season, each athlete is required to sell at least (10) raffle tickets.
Tickets will sell for $10.00 each and include (2) chances to win!
Prize = $1,000 cash + $2,000 in gift cards.
Tickets will be available for distribution at our first practice.
The winning number will be determined by the PA Lottery 3-digit evening number selected on May 5, 2025.
